
Current NewsOctober 8, 2009 According to a press release issued by Nortel, an agreement has been reached with Cienna Corporation to sell the Optical Networking and Carrier Ethernet assets for $521 million, consisting of $390 million in cash and $131 million in Cienna stock. In addition to the above transaction, Nortel announced in earlier press releases that it has sold its Enterprise Division to Avaya for $915 million and the CDMA and LTE divisions to Ericsson for $1.13 billion for a total asset sale of $2.56 billion. September 24, 2009 Nortel announced today it has concluded a successful auction for $900 million in cash of substantially all of its global Enterprise Solutions business as well as the shares of Nortel Government Solutions Incorporated and DiamondWare, Ltd. with Avaya Inc. emerging as the winning bidder. The sale is subject to court approvals in the U.S., Canada, France and Israel as well as regulatory approvals, other customary closing conditions and certain post-closing purchase price adjustments.
